> What is YourRadio?

YourRadio is a Command line User interface for a peer-to-peer network called Network of Taste. In a Network of Taste, the Clients are sorted among the taste of its Users. Every User can give points to Music that the Client plays. Users that vote similar to others will be placed close to them in the network. Your Client downloads files from users that are close to your Client in the Network. It follows, that your Client will download music files that are, with a high probability, files you like. In addition, music files in the network will be of high quality, because no one will give a high rate to a corrupt file.

> How to Install YourRadio?

First, you have to download the newest Version. Unzip the downloaded file (YourRadio.zip) to any Directory you want, called YourRadio Directory (Windows users can use WinZip). To run YourRadio you have to install a Java Virtual Machine on your Computer. If you not have installed such a JVM yet, you can download one from here for your Operation System. Then open the YourRadio Directory and double-click on runYourRadio.bat (Windows) or type runYourRadio in bash shell (*nix). Next, YourRadio will ask you for your name. Type in any name you want and hit Return. Than YourRadio ask for your shared directory. It is highly recommended to hit Return.

> How to Use YourRadio?

If you use YourRadio for the first time, the Client plays no music because the Client does not know any files. You have to either wait until a file is downloaded or you can add your one files to the network by copy some mp3 files to: YourRadio Directory/shared/. Please hint: DO NOT STEAL MUSIC! Please always copy files to your shared Directory, because if more than 200 files are in the shared directory some files will be deleted without warning. Now your Client starts playing your Music. To see the Name of the file that is played at the moment type: stat. To give points to this file type: vote NR, where NR is a number between 0 (worst) and 100 (best) (example: vote 87). To see uploads and downloads type: notstat. To exit the program type: quit. To see a list of all commands type: help.

> What about Copyright issues?

I cannot stress it enough: DO NOT STEAL MUSIC! If you want to listen to Britney Spears, you can just turn on your old-fashioned analogue radio. I hope that unknown bands will add there music to the network, and if they are good enough, they will get a high rate for there music. I hope that this will give good bands a chance to make a bit promotion for themselves without the need of money.

> Do you have any technical details?

YourRadio and NetworkOfTast are written in Java and under GPL. See developer section for more information.
